Hi Lovelies,

| Bare face + natural hair (7months whoppee) |
It’s been nearly two months since I stopped taking Roaccutance and I am so happy to report that I am still acne free *happy dance* While we’re on the topic, I’d like to say thanks to everyone for all their comments and support on my Acne/Roaccutane story. It was hard to share but knowing that it’s helped some of you made it all worth it:) But today, I’m excited to share my skincare regimen with you and what I’ve been doing post-Roaccutane for maintenance.
Make-Up Removers
I’ve always been a huge fan of the Simple face wipes but ever since I ran out I’ve been using their eye make-up remover but all over my face. I don’t know if anyone else does this but it’s amazing. Its very soothing, doesn’t leave a greasy film on your face and it contains extra vitamin B5 to restore softness and smoothness. Just put some on a cotton pad and rub the make up off – I think it removes more makeup than the wipes too.
Cleansers
Clarisonic brushes have been raved about on pretty much every single beauty blog in the world so I won’t explain it too much. I got the Pro version about 9 months ago as my last attempt to sort my skin out before starting Roaccutane and even though it did nothing for my acne, I’ve always loved it. Its an electronic face brush with oscillating
bristles that give your face the most amazing deep clean in 60 seconds. I use
my Clarisonic about three times week (always after nights out when I tend to
wear heavier makeup) and it get’s everything off. During my really bad acne days I didn’t use
this because my skin felt really raw, but since it’s cleared up I’ve really
been enjoying this. If you’d like a more in-depth review on the brush and it’s benefits just let me know:)

I got mine at Beauty Concerns on Saka Tinubu in VI, but I’ve also seen them at
Priscilla’s Pride in Dolphin Estate if you’re looking for a retailer in Lagos. Ooh! And a handy tip- these brushes are
expensive! So if you live with your mom, sister, roommate etc. I’d recommend you share the unit but get
different brush heads. The brush heads are so easy to change so this is a great money-saving tip.

I team my Clarisonic with the Aveeno Postively Radiant Brightening Cleanser and I absolutely love this! Its a foaming wash with a light, fresh cucumber kind of smell and it
leaves my skin feeling really clean but not dry and stripped. Its soap-free and contains soy extracts, a natural antioxidant. It is hands
down the best face wash I’ve ever used.

Toners
I’ve never really understood the point in toning until now. The Body Shop Aloe Calming Toner. It’s very light and soothing and just calms your skin. Any redness or blotchiness imporves instantly with this product and most importantly, it doesn’t strip your skin of all its moisture like most toners. I got the Cellex-C Fresh Complexion Mist pre-Roaccutane days too and I’ve always loved it. It smells sort of citrus-y and I spray this on my face after the toner. Its really refreshing. Its main ingredients are witch hazel and glycerin so I’m thinking of making a DIY version when this is done because it was quite expensive and hard to find.
Moisturisers
Both of these moisturirers were pretty blah to be honest but they do the job! I’ve been a huge fan of Simple products for years but I think the fragrance-free thing gets a bit boring after a while. I tried the entire Body Shop Vitamin E range when I started Roaccutane because it’s supposed to be very moisturising but I was unimpressed. Besides the smell I don’t think they were that great. The best product to me was their night cream, which I lost – go figure lol. So I’m on the hunt for a new moituriser, please leave suggestions below!
Prescriptions
My dermatologist prescribed for post-Roaccutane maintenance which I have luckily not had to rely on too much. Around Lady Time, I tend to get one or two huge spots on my cheek and the Benzac gel is excellent for drying them up and making them smaller literally overnight. Retin-A is a topical containing isotretinoin (the active ingredient in Roaccutane). It stings quite badly at first but I didn’t have any horrible reactions to it. I mix it with my moisturisers and apply it to my face once or twice a week at night.
That’s it from me, what are your favourite skincare products?
I’ll leave you with a fro shot, this was my first bantu knot-out.
I can’t believe that’s all 7 months of growth!
Love,
Ifeyinwa

Lavender helps the skin heal itself, stimulates cell growth, reduces inflammation, prevents scarring and helps balance oil production. It exhibits antibacterial, antiviral, antiseptic, bactericide and anti-inflammatory properties which makes it ideal for use in products that treat skin problems like acne, eczema, minor infections, oily skin, boils, burns, sunburn, wounds and psoriasis. Lavander also makes a great toner. my face looks dull and tired
