If you watched my Summer 2020 Clean With Me video then you’ll know I’ve been working to transition to non-toxic cleaning products. My husband has never been one to care about chemicals in things but now that we’re living together it really has been a journey of compromise in this area (who would’ve thought haha).
Here’s a list of some of the products I’ve tried, and absolutely loved so far!
- Method All Purpose Cleaner – Anti Bac: This stuff is LIQUID GOLD right now but if you can get your hands on it you have to try it! It literally smells like a sweet garden. I’m obsessed! And I will admit that I just spray this around my house as a air freshener sometimes too.
- Ecover Lemongrass + Ginger All-Purpose Cleaner: This was the first Ecover Product I used I use it on EVERYTHING. It smells like lemongrass which just so happens to be one of my favourite fragrances
- Method Bathroom Cleaner Spray: I’m really not sure if I LOVE this product yet. It leaves a lovely refreshing mint fragrance and also seems to clean everything but when it comes to bathrooms I’m used to suds, foam and that antiseptic chemical smell . It’s hard to feel like its really clean with no PROOF. I’ve found that spraying my shower and toilets with vinegar after combats that somewhat (I need help I know)
- Ecover Power Toilet Cleaner Lemon & Orange: I really like this product. Even though this doesn’t smell like chemicals and literally make me cough and make my eyes water (not exaggerating) I think this works really well. Also, onsidering its the practical the same price as toxic alternatives, it’s a great and easy switch to make.
- Method Concentrated Laundry Liquid Detergent Wild Lavender: I picked this up on offer over a month ago with very low expectations (we have always been a solid detergent household). But this product has blown me away! Just one tiny capful washed a large dirty load and leaves it smelling incredible. I’m so tempted to try the other fragrances but the lavender is gorgeous too.
I realise that this seems like an advert for Ecover and Method – it’s not! These brand just seem to be the most common non-toxic cleaning brands in the UK. And I can see why! They work well, smell great and are easy to source.
Let me know if you have any other recommendations!

HEY IFEYINWA!
I JUST WANT TO SAY, I READ YOUR BIO AND I LOVE THE MEANING BEHIND YOUR NAME. THAT’S SO BEAUTIFUL, I WANT TO KNOW MORE.
YOUR BLOG IS ALSO stunning! THANK YOU FOR MAINTAINING IT FOR SO MANY YEARS.
Now onto this post. I totally agree with being loyal to brands, especially brands dedicated to social causes like being non-toxic. I also second using vinegar, because it’s widely available, it’s super effective, it’s a gentle and sustainable cleaner, it’s eco-friendly, and can be used on almost any surface.
In regards to another recommendation, have you tried non-toxic laundry detergents? my family uses true. it’s biodegradable, gentle enough for our babies, cleans well and smells delicious.
