Nazuri Curls Afro Kinky Curly

It’s so crazy how life can get sometimes.

I’ve been so incredibly busy over the past month or so with the launch ofAJALI, working full-time, I’m also maid of honour for my friend’s wedding coming up in December so there’s all the responsibilities that come along with that and then of course just life in general. I think sometimes your body decides to protest because for the past week and a half I’ve been forced to stay in bed nursing the toothache from HELL! I had an impacted wisdom tooth that got infected. Line of treatment – a week of antiobiotics and painkillers to deal with the swelling and once that was done I had to get the tooth extracted! The right side of my face literally grew up to the size of a grapefruit. All I can say is OUCH!

Anyways today I’m so happy to be well enough to get back in to my blog. I decided to get my feet wet with a quick and simple post on my new hair. I bought my extensions from a company called NAZURI CURLS (@nazuricurls -follow them on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook). They specialise solely in virgin curly extensions which is perfect for me being natural but the range of curls they offer can easily be used by any hair type.

The Afro kinky curly (the type I got) is the tightest curl pattern that NAZURI CURLS offer. I decided to get this because I wanted something that would blend easily with my own hair – minimum manipulation and no heat. I decided to get a weave this time around with about half an inch of my own hair left around the perimeter and on the side. To blend I would just wet my leave out with some water and Eco styler gel. Put some Edge Control on my edges, flat twist my leave out and then wrap my hair up in a scarf. In the morning I take the twist out and voila!

I’ve had this hair on for about 6 weeks and I absolutely LOVE it! So many people think its all my hair which is so exciting (maybe in a few years lol) but besides that I just love that it looks different all the time and that I can care for it the exact same way as I would my own natural hair. I just co-wash it twice a week and finger detangle, moisturise and seal everyday and I’m done.

Being the designated distributor for Nigeria it wouldn’t be right for me to do a proper review of the hair but can honestly say I really have loved it and would encourage anyone out there interested in some curly hair to check NAZURI CURLS out! They’ll pretty much ship to anywhere in the world:)

Loving the texture of this hair! How do you maintain it – do you have to co-wash it often? Side-note, your skin in those first pics is looking amazing 🙂

  Hi Yasmin! Thank you so much – I mentioned in my post I co-wash about twice a week because I this hair requires a LOT of moisture – which is good, reminds me to moisturise my own hair too. I'll finger detangle it with the conditioner in it (so about twice a week). And I moisturise it (with some water and a leave-in) and seal (usually with coconut oil) everyday and I'm done. It's been a breeze 🙂

Love the hair! How do you care for it? Same as you do your own hair?

Sorry about the wisdom tooth. Three times I felt mine coming and all three times, I believe I prayed it away. I am SO not ready.

Thanks so much, I'm going to do a separate post on how I care and maintain for my hair (seems like I didn't address it properly in this post) I'll get that up in a few weeks but in the mean time you can just refer to my response to Yasmin's comment. As for the wisdom tooth debacle – its the ABSOLUTE WORST. But the sooner you get them out, the sooner it will all be over lol. Good luck x
