thickness. It’s also an excellent humectant and can help with dry, itchy
scalp. Now that I am a proud owner of some Jamaican Black Castor Oil ( a raw,
unrefined version of castor oil) I am very excited for my edges lol.
Tea Tree Oil – Also mentioned in my hair haul post, tea tree oil is another favourite of mine. Its also known to stimulate your scalp and hair growth.
Coconut Oil – Coconut oil is one of the best oils for penetrating the hair shaft which is amazing because it means your hair actually gets all the amazing properties this oil has. Its amazing for conditioning, moisturising and strengthening you hair. Its also jam packed with antioxidants and anti-microbial properties.
Jojoba Oil – Jojoba oil is said to be the most similar oil to our natural body oil, sebum. So its easily absorbed by your hair and skin and is excellent for moisturising. Like coconut oil it has really good anti-fungal properties and antioxidants. Its also very expensive (boo!) so I’d suggest shopping around. A friend brought me some from a souk in Dubai.
Sweet Almond Oil – Another Dubai souk treat and natural hair community favourite. Sweet almond oil is said to prevent hair loss and improve hair thickness and shine.
Aloe Vera Gel – I’ve talked about aloe vera gel all over my blog already so I’ll keep it short. Its an excellent conditioner and helps with dry, itchy scalp and dandruff. It also promotes hair growth.
I honestly don’t take any measurements I just combine random amounts
into a bottle with an applicator tip, I use one from an old dye kit
(Huge cheer for all the hoarders in the house!) and shake it up!
So how do I use my oil blend?
Hot Oil / Pre-poo treatments
So that’s it folks! I hope it helps you all.
